A water softener is often something that is often overlooked in homes or businesses – until it no longer functions properly. According to a U.S. Geological Survey, nearly 90 percent of homes have hard water.
Be assured that a water softener will save you money in the long run, and that's where we come in. Bill's Plumbing Service has been repairing or installing water softeners in the Johnson County area for more than 28 years. We may be able to fix the one you have, but if we can't or you don't have one, then our water softener professionals will install a quality unit at an affordable price. We use only the best water softeners available and will dispose of your old, faulty one if that's the case.
If you aren't sure whether you have hard water or why this might a be a problem, here is a quick tutorial:
Hard water basically contains a heavy amount of calcium or magnesium dissolved in it, and that causes two main problems that can be solved by a water softener:
*-That hard water is likely to clog pipes because “scaling” forms due to the presence of the calcium and magnesium deposits. Those clogged pipes will result in your water heater working less efficiently and in a loss of water pressure. That can add up to 15-20 percent higher energy costs. The hard water also can damage household appliances like your washing machine or dishwasher over time.
*-The second issue with hard water solved by a water softener is something you've no doubt noticed before: either you don't feel real clean (grimy) after a shower, or a soap scum shows up every time you use the tub, or spots appear on your dishes or even your car after you wash them. The hard water reacts with soap to form a sticky scum and reduces the soap's ability to lather. Thus a shower, bath or any type of wash is simply not as effective as it would be with a water softener.
Long story short: Water filtered through a water softener won't damage your pipes; you won't need as much soap when cleaning; there won't be any soap rings or scum around your tub, faucet or dishes; your clothes will last longer (up to 33 percent so); and you probably will just feel cleaner using soft water! Seems like a no-brainer to get that water softener replaced or installed, doesn't it? How hard your water is depends on how many grains of the minerals it contains per gallon (more than 1 grain per gallon is considered hard). Unless you are a chemist, you probably won't know how to test that water, but we will be happy to do it no charge, even if you decide not to purchase one of our water softeners. Just send us at least a 2-ounce sample and we will either email or phone the results back to you.
Our water softeners also come with water conditioners, which reduce the tastes and odors and chlorine in your water, leaving your drinking water much cleaner and tasting better. And all of our water softeners and water conditioners come with some of the industry's best warranties and our full-service guarantee. That guarantee pays for itself compared to you purchasing a water softener/water conditioner retail and trying to install it yourself.
